Permanent Exhibitions

NATIONAL MUSEUM – CENTRAL BUILDING, BELGRADE

Due to building reconstruction, the permanent exhibition is closed for visits. Temporary thematic exhibitions are held in the Museum’s Atrium (entrance from Vasina street) and other National Museum venues in Belgrade and throughout Serbia (see below).

 

MUSEUM OF VUK AND DOSITEJ, BELGRADE

The new permanent display at the Museum of Vuk and Dositej is aimed at creating the necessary conditions for an open and lively museum, intended for various groups of visitors.

The redefined, accessible Museum, will offer modern, dynamic, clear and likable permanent display. The focus of the new permanent display is the interpretation of museum artifacts in the context which will bring closer historic and cultural epoch of 18th and 19th century, as well as individuals, particularly Dositej Obradović and Vuk Karadžić and their activities. Special attention will be given to the comparison of European historical and cultural movements with events and ideas formed in Serbia.

The life and work of Dositej Obradović and Vuk Karadžić and the history of the Lyceum (the first High School) will be exhibited on the ground and first floor of the building. The Odžaklije building will be the space for temporary thematic displays and various other activities of the Museum. The yard will be the space for reception of organized visits, and the garden will  have the look of the gardens from the 19th century Belgrade.

The author of the display, leader and coordinator of the project is Ljiljana Čuburić PhD, Museum Advisor, and the general team of associates on the project includes Jasmina Milovanović PhD, Petar Petrović, Senior Curator, Eliana Gavrilović MA, display designer Igor Stepančić and graphic designer Irena Stepančić. The project leader is Tatjana Cvjetićanin PhD, Museum Advisor and Director of the National Museum.

The new display at the Museum of Vuk and Dositej started from December 2012.
