Ladies of our City

In the Central hall of the Stari dvor (Old Palace) exhibition Sugradjanke (Ladies of our
City) of the National Museum was opened today. At the official opening, the present
visitors were addressed by Ms. Vesna Marjanovic, member of the City Council, Ms.
Tatjana Cvjeticanin, Director of the National Museum in Belgrade and Mr. Dragan
Djilas, Mayor of Belgrade.

City Council Member, Vesna Marjanovic emphasized that the exhibition will be opened
every weekend from 10 a.m. till 5 p.m. She reminded that the project Our Treasure – the
National Museum at the City Assembly was initiated by the Mayor and that this is the first
in a series of exhibitions to be organized at the Old Palace.

At the official opening of the exhibition, Mayor Dragan Djilas thanked the people from
the National Museum for accepting this somewhat unusual initiative which represents a
way to move things forward.

The Director of the National Museum in Belgrade, Tatjana Cvjeticanin expressed her
pleasure that during this year the Museum will have an opportunity to be a guest at the
Old Palace with four exhibitions. She reminded that this is an opportunity, while the
Museum building reconstruction is on the way, to present the development and life of
Belgrade, its culture and phenomena as well as the private and public histories of people
that shaped the today’s Belgrade with their lives and creation. According to her, the
project will provide insight into cultural heritage that is an important part of Belgrade’s
identity and assert the manifold connections between the City and the National Museum.
